Our new Gleistein Dyneema ropes are now rigged! Our first “Dyneema Experience” is that the material runs a lot easier on rollers and winches thus loosing less force. Obviously replacing the old ropes makes a lot of sense for a used boat! It is not just the nice & shiny, great looking effect. It is about easier handling and better control in trimming the sails.
Our test sails now went up to force 6 with gusts of 7. There were no problems with changing trims from lines becoming loose. It is obvious that once the trim is set there is virtually no creeping.
Our concern was if the EasyLock clutches will hold the stronger forces of the better material and not tend to slip. But there is absolutely no problem with that! Obviously Gleistein managed to give the mantle optimum hold to the Dyneema core and the mantle is suitable for “normal” EasyLock type clutches.

Endlich ist unser neues Dyneema Tauwerk geriggt! Unsere Erste “Dyneema Erfahrung” ist, dass das laufende Gut viel leichter läuft. Es wird weniger Kraft benötigt, weil alles leichter über Rollen und um die Winschen geht. Offensichtlich macht es absolut Sinn, bei einem gebrauchten Boot das alte Tauwerk gegen Qualitiätstauwerk zu tauschen. Und es geht nicht nur um gutes, schickes Aussehen der blendenden neuen Tampen. Es geht um bessere Kontrolle und einfacheres Handling. Der Trimm ist präziser!
Wir segelten bisher mit dem neuen Tauwerk bis 6 Windstärken, Böen 7. Es ist kein Kriechen festzustellen. Einmal eingestellt und der Trimm bleibt!
Unsere Sorge war, dass die EasyLock Klemmen das stärkere und bessere Material eventuell nicht halten würden, weil die auftretenden Kräfte zu gross sein könnten. Aber damit gab es bisher kein Problem, selbst beim überpowerten Segeln. Offenbar hat Gleistein den Mantel gut an den Dyneema Kern gehaftet, so dass das Tauwerk für “normale” EasyLock Klemmen gut geeignet ist.

Der gereckte Kern von “MegaTwin Dyneema® HS” verleiht dem Seil eine Festigkeit und Dehnung ähnlich der von Drahtseilen und sorgt für einen sehr stabilen Seilquerschnitt. Durch den abriebbeständigen Mantel ist MegaTwin besonders stoppergeeignet. Die Unversalleine ist ideal für Achter- und Niederholer, Toppnanten, Reffleinen, Bulltaljen und Cunningham. Nachjustieren wird durch die unelastische Dehnung (Kriechen) des Dyneema-Kerns minimiert. Die hohe UV-Beständigkeit komplettiert die Eigenschaften eines Seils, das insbesondere auf Superyachten seinen Einsatzort haben wird.

Ein Seil für Backstag Runner, Taljen und besonders für den Einsatz auf Winschensystemen ist das neu entwickelte RunnerTwin PBO 50 / TEC 50 / VEC 50. Der Kern aus 12-fach geflochtenen Dyneema SK75-Fasern (hochmodular) schafft eine exzellente Bruchkraft und Abriebfestigkeit. RunnerTwin hält hohen Anpressdrücken stand und verglast nur minimal beim Durchrauschen. Sonderausführungen mit höherem Hochmodularanteil sind auf Anfragen möglich.

We got into a thunderstorm with a vast rain shower and wind force of up to 50 knots of true wind. We hat 1 reef in main & no reef in genoa. I just managed to loose the genoa and all i had to do was to roller-reef the wild-running genoa!
